First Love, You: Embracing Bold Firsts in Life and Business
When I think about the journey that’s led me here, I can’t help but reflect on the many firsts I’ve experienced—some bold, some quiet, some unexpected—but all significant in shaping who I am today. As I step into this new chapter in my life, I’m celebrating not just the new firsts that are on the horizon but also the ones that have come before them. The moments that helped me discover the most important lesson of all: the first love in life has to be you.
Taking the Leap into the Unknown
There was a time when I followed the crowd, doing what I thought was expected of me and, in many cases, not trusting my own heart. It was easy to look at the world and try to fit in, to follow a path that felt safe even when it didn’t feel aligned with who I truly was. But, as with all first loves, it wasn’t until I gave myself the chance to listen—to really listen—to my heart that I started to take those bold leaps.
I remember the first time I took a leap of faith to create Wild Nomad Flower Co. It was a huge step, and I had no clue where it would lead. In fact, I was terrified. I wasn’t certain of anything but my passion. But sometimes, we don’t always get the clarity we crave upfront, and that’s okay. What I’ve learned is that trusting yourself and having the courage to move forward despite not having all the answers is what builds the foundation for everything else.
Living Boldly, Living Authentically
Self-love doesn’t just mean being kind to yourself when things go well—it means giving yourself permission to follow your intuition even when things aren’t clear. It’s about giving yourself the space to make mistakes and to grow through them. It’s about living authentically, even when the world tries to tell you otherwise.
When I decided to go all in on my floral business, I had to get comfortable with the idea that it might not look like anyone else’s journey. I had to give myself permission to not have all the answers, to not fit into a box, and to embrace the messy beauty of growth. I was listening to my heart, taking a leap, and living with intention, knowing that, even in the unknown, there was so much potential.
And, of course, it wasn’t just the business. There were personal firsts too—whether it was moving across the country or stepping into the unknown as a wife and mother. Each new chapter, each bold first, has led me closer to the woman I am today. It has taught me that self-love is more than just accepting yourself; it’s about creating the life you want, with purpose and intention.
The Power of Firsts: A New Chapter in Self-Love
This month, as we reflect on the theme of “First Love, You,” it’s important to recognize how the firsts in our lives shape us. They teach us lessons, force us out of our comfort zones, and allow us to be present in the moments that matter. Whether it’s taking a risk on a new career, saying yes to an adventure, or simply loving yourself first before anyone else, these moments define us. They guide us toward more love, more life, and more growth.
As I reflect on all the firsts I’ve embraced, from career milestones to personal moments of self-discovery, I know that they’ve led me here—to a place where I’m now more connected to my true self than ever before. It’s taken a lot of trial and error, a lot of bold steps, and a lot of listening to my heart to get here. But it’s all been worth it.
Celebrating Past Firsts & Creating New Ones
This Valentine’s Day, instead of focusing on romantic love, I’m choosing to celebrate the most important love of all—self-love. It's about recognizing the beauty in where you've been and where you're going. As we step into February, I encourage you to reflect on your own journey—those unforgettable firsts that shaped you. And, most importantly, I invite you to make room for new ones. Take a leap, follow your heart, and be brave enough to create the life that feels true to you.
Remember, self-love isn’t about perfection. It’s about authenticity—giving yourself the grace to evolve and create new firsts. It’s about stepping into the world as your truest self, knowing that every new step brings you closer to the life you’ve always wanted. So, here’s to the bold firsts, the quiet moments of growth, and the love we give ourselves along the way.
